The cage in the spherical roller thrust bearing is an integral part of the internal design of the bearing. All spherical roller thrust bearings have a strong metal cage. This allows bearings to withstand high temperatures and apply to all lubricants.
When the temperature exceeds the allowable range or falls below 0°C, the inner and outer rings of the bearing are thermally stabilized, and SKF thrust spherical roller bearing shaft washers can be used for applications up to 200°C (390°F).
Spherical roller bearings are separable so that their races can be mounted and dismounted independently of the shaft washers and roller and cage assemblies.
Spherical roller thrust bearings with machined steel cages will be replaced by E-type bearings with windowed stamped steel cages. When axial forces are transmitted through the cage guide bushes, spacers must be added between the shaft shoulder and the shaft ring ring.
