In the absence or inability to use the press, the metric rod end bearing can be mounted with a mounting sleeve and a small hammer. The hammering force should be transmitted evenly over the entire circumference of the end face of the metric rod end bearing ring, so that the hammered end face of the assembly casing should be made spherical.
The force required to install a metric rod end bearing is related to the size of the joint bearing and the amount of interference. For medium or large metric rod ends with large interference, the method of hot charging is commonly used. Before hot loading, put the metric rod end bearing or the separable bearing ring into the fuel tank or special heater and heat it evenly to 80-100 °C, not more than 100 °C.
Hot-fit metric rod ends require skilled operation. When the bearing is removed from the heating tank or heater, immediately wipe off the oil and deposits on the bearing surface with a clean cloth, and then place it in front of the mating surface. Push the metric rod end bearing to the shoulder against the shoulder in one operation.
Always tighten during the cooling process or tap the joint bearing with a small hammer through the fitting sleeve to make it tight. When installing the metric rod end bearing, rotate the bearing slightly to avoid tipping or jamming. When the outer ring of the metric rod end bearing and the housing hole are tightly fitted, the housing can be heated and then loaded into the bearing.
